Dr. William D. Mestichelli, DDS
Dr. Mestichelli has been practicing dentistry in South Philadelphia since 1982 after graduating from the Temple Dental School. During his career, Dr. Mestichelli has served the South Philadelphia community with his easy-going approach to patient care and his expertise in a variety of general dental procedures, including root canals, crowns, teeth whitening and extractions. Since September 2014, Dr. Mestichelli has been practicing in his current state-of-the-art office. In this new facility, Dr. Mestichelli welcomes his son-in-law, Dr. Michael Barnes MD DDS into the practice. Together they combine the latest technology with the personal care that patients have come to expect.
Outside of the office, Dr. Mestichelli enjoy spending time with his family, including his granddaughter, Olivia, grandson Thomas, and his Chihuahua, Hank. He is also an avid Phillies fan and has been a season ticket holder for 25 years.
Dr. Michael T. Barnes, MD, DDS
Dr. Michael Barnes graduated from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California with his MD in 2007. He completed 2 years of general surgery residency at Temple University Hospital before enrolling at Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine. He earned his DDS in May 2013 and joined Dr. Mestichelli to form Mestichelli Barnes Dental Associates. With his unique background and skill set, Dr. Barnes has expanded the offerings of the current practice to include implant placement, Invisalign, and various cosmetic services. Dr. Barnes is very excited to continue the excellent care patients have come to expect.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Barnes enjoys spending time with his daughter Olivia and son Thomas, going to the beach, and rooting for the Flyers, Phillies and USC football.
Dr. Kate Shusterman, DMD
Dr. Shusterman joined Mestichelli Barnes Dental Associates in March 2017, and is excited to be part of the team. She is trained to use a comprehensive and patient-based approach to dentistry, and appreciates the relationships she is able to build through her work. Dr. Shusterman enjoys getting to know the patients, serving the community and promoting oral health awareness. She graduated with her DMD from Midwestern University in Arizona (May 2015) and continued on to a residency at Temple University in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and has been recognized with a Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Shusterman received her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During her time there she completed a research thesis on the relationship of fluoride and tooth development.
In her spare time, Dr. Shusterman enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
